The Toasted Yolk Cafe Opens Record Number of Stores in First Half of 2023

The Toasted Yolk, a full-service eatery featuring breakfast, lunch and brunch favorites, has opened seven new locations this year, including several in new states, while projecting to add 7-10 restaurants later this year along with steady growth in the future.

The Toasted Yolk opened new restaurants in Sarasota, FL, Elizabethtown, KY, Savannah, GA, Findlay, OH, Magnolia, Texas, Biloxi, MS, and Addison, Texas through the end of July. It marked a company record number of openings for the first half of any year. Five of the new locations were the first in their respective states, as the Houston-based franchise has rapidly expanded its national footprint in 2023.

The Toasted Yolk serves its unique breakfast and lunch specialties, as well as its boozy brunch cocktails that can be enjoyed at the full-sized bar or outdoor patio. The menus offer meals that can be savored throughout the day, allowing diners to enjoy egg specialties and coffee in the morning, boozy cocktails and savory pancakes at brunch, and a variety of delicious salads, sandwiches and soups during lunchtime.

The restaurant concept was founded by Chris Milton and Mathew DeMott in Houston in 2010. The company took a measured approach to expanding the brand over the years. They opened three locations, all within the Houston area, before they franchised the concept in 2017. Toasted Yolk currently has 35 total locations, with 25 in Texas including 19 in the Houston market.

“We are incredibly proud of the record expansion of the Toasted Yolk brand, particularly as we expand our footprint into new areas of the country,” says Toasted Yolk Co-Founder Chris Milton. “We have such a fun and unique concept with a fresh and diverse menu that is very popular with our customers. People really enjoy our breakfast, lunch and brunch selections and full-service bar throughout the day.”

The Toasted Yolk plans on opening new restaurants in Sarasota, FL, Myrtle Beach, SC, Mont Belvieu, Texas, Springdale, AR, Mobile, AL, Richmond, Texas, Lafayette, LA, Covington, LA, and Lake Charles, LA later this year. Construction on a new restaurant prototype started in June in Mont Belvieu with hopes to open in early December.

Milton anticipates the company will add 15-20 restaurants per year over the next several years as it currently has more than 100 signed franchise agreements. He said the company continues to receive a lot of interest from prospects in new and growing markets who are attracted to the many benefits of the breakfast daypart.

“We’ve seen so much interest from restaurant operators over the last several years who liked the idea of a breakfast and brunch franchise,” says Chris Milton. “It is a popular and successful concept with favorable working hours for owners and staff wanting to maintain a comfortable work-life balance.”
