Built On Hospitality to Open New Cocktail Bar in Charlotte’s NoDa Neighborhood

Built On Hospitality, owners of The Goodyear House, Haymaker and Old Town Kitchen & Cocktails have announced its newest concept – Chief's – a cocktail bar located at 3024 N. Davidson St. next door to The Goodyear House in the heart of Charlotte’s NoDa neighborhood. Chief’s is set to open in early 2024 featuring elevated libations and light bites. The early 1900s mill house will be converted into a 50-seat, 1,800-square-foot space, offering an intimate indoor setting with bar and lounge seating and small outdoor garden.

Chief's is the brainchild of renowned mixologist Bob Peters, who recently joined Built On Hospitality as the company’s beverage director. The bar’s name pays homage to Peters’ late father, whose grandchildren lovingly called Chief. Chief and his wife, known to the family as ‘Marmee,’ were exceptional entertainers and proponents of Southern hospitality. The new cocktail bar is an embodiment of their commitment to create a place where guests can indulge in fine cocktails in an atmosphere that exudes comfort and warmth.

Chief was an architect whose style was very similar to the way his son approaches building his regionally renowned cocktail recipes – simple yet elegant. This will be reflected throughout the entire menu and atmosphere of Chief’s. The chic and inviting cocktail lounge will be a vibrant addition to NoDa’s booming social scene with a menu featuring seasonal cocktails and light bites similar to what Chief and Marmee served to friends and family in their home.

“It was important to me that this new concept encompasses my dad’s witty, dry, thoughtful personality, as well as my mom’s heart and Southern charm,” says Peters. “To honor my parents in this way is a dream come true. They taught me everything I know about hospitality, and I wouldn’t be the man I am today without them. I’m beyond grateful to the Built On Hospitality team for helping make my vision come to life.”

In line with all Built On Hospitality concepts, Chief’s will use fresh, locally sourced ingredients in its cocktail creations. Chief’s will offer innovative beverages that showcase the essence of Charlotte’s culture while incorporating global influences to appeal to diverse palates.

Prior to joining Built On Hospitality, Peters oversaw the beverage program at the Ritz Carlton of Charlotte, where he won numerous awards including the 2015 Global Bartender of the Year for The Ritz-Carlton Corporation. He has also been a featured mixologist at the James Beard House in New York City, Charleston Wine & Food, Atlanta Food & Wine Festival and the Cayman Cookout hosted by Eric Ripert, José Andrés, and Anthony Bourdain.
